Alienware m15 R7 Review for the Specs: 3070ti Nvidia graphics 2K display 240HZ,16gb ram, 1TB SSD
Since my memory is only 16 gb, so I bought the crucial 64 gb memory (same frequency, same CT40, and same voltage) to upgrade my laptop. However, the new memory is incompatible with the bios, and the screen never lighted up. It was so sad that the memory only be compatible with Dell’s memory, which is 300£ higher price than the other brand.

Updates screwed it up
I bought the laptop for gaming, and I use an external monitor. When I first tried it, everything ran great! I hooked up my external 240hz monitor using the USB-C/DisplayPort option. I was easily getting upwards of 300FPS on my games. For some reason, installing all of the Windows and Dell updates messed something up. Now, any game running on my external 240hz monitor is capped at 60FPS. It looks horrible. Still trying to troubleshoot, and there’s no “open a support case now” button in Dell

Alienware m15 R7 have Good performance, but a LOT of fan noise
My laptop performs well, but upon loading any game the fan comes on immediately and generates a loud high-pitched whine. It is unpleasant and distracting. I have to wear headphones just to cancel it out. Not sure I’d recommend this purchase to

Alienware R7 Gaming Review:
So far so good. This machine is very fast and the 3080 Ti has been excellent with Elden Ring. The fans can get pretty loud while gaming but that is to be expected with a gaming laptop. Overall it feels well built and sturdy. The hinges have little, if any wobble. The Cherry MX keyboard feels great to type on although there is a slight metallic resonance when typing quickly. The 1440p screen has great image quality and no motion blur.

Alienware m15 R7 Hardware RAID 0 Setup
I can’t setup RAID 0 on this device, I added additional 1 TB SSD Gen 4. I can see the two SSD in the pre-boot menu but there no way to create RAID 0. It will only show information of the two drives label as Non-Raid. I message support through WhatsApp but take time to reply and did not gave further info. How I wish someone from support to help me in this case.

great but a bit overpriced
I got myself a new laptop from Alienware and its honestly amazing and looks great. only complaint is it’s really expensive (too be fair if you aren’t looking to do things like streaming, like me, you can buy the same model with some cheaper parts)

Alienware R7 is Noisy and glitchy
The noise this laptop makes is insane. While it has quite a powerful hardware, still, convenience is not up to the mark for such a pricing tag. The worst is that the laptop has a lot of issues (unlike the MacBook you can just start using), and you have to spend hours with a support engineer. In my case that was a faulty SSD that disconnects randomly. Overheating, noise and all those hardware-related problems at the very beginning make this product a great disappointment.

Alienware R7 GPU works only for 15-20 mins
Love the laptop but is currently unusable for gaming. When hitting around 15 minutes into a game the GPU will drop to around 200mhz – 4300mhz for 5 minutes plus. Doesn’t seem to matter what game or settings or which power/thermal profile.

Alienware M15 r7 Ethernet RJ45 missing:
I work as IT Manager and i would have bought X15 but it lacked RJ45 port. So I bought M15 instead. In 1 week testing this is great laptop! Great keyboard! 10gb ethernet would be nice. My old Alienware 13 R3 got graphics amplifier that would be nice in m15

Alienware m15 R7 is Insanely fast, but battery life is terrible.
Let me preface this. I have been in the tech industry for the last 25 years. I have owned probably 40 Dell laptops.. Yes, three Alienware before this too. I have two year old XPS that has a I7 9th gen and GTX1650 that I use for work and home. My battery life on that particular system is incredibly good. 6 hours at least if I’m using it for work. This Alienware however, just browsing the internet maybe 2.5 hours tops with battery saver on and screen brightness turned way down. Everything else I love, but battery life on a system this heavy should be better.

Alienware m15 R7 Awesome upgrade in M series
Been using M15 R3 before M15 R7, the upgrade through the generations is very respectful. The latest edition have even more solid built. The 12700h is perfect pairing with 3070ti, though the lack of undervaluing ability in recent 12 gen intel cpu slightly lessen user ability to optimize the CPU to perform in tight space, like in laptop thin casing.

Alienware R7 Where’s the Display port gone!
1 HDMI and a USB-C that is not directly connected to the GFX? Totally useless! I figured the USB was the replacement for the missing mini DisplayPort, bought an expensive replacement cable and got 15FPS in 3D mark…. then a message at the end saying the port is not on the graphics card! What a kick in the neither regions!

Alienware R7 has good Battery Life and performance as well some .
So far its been great experience wise when it is working on plugged in power it works great nice fps graphics and overall performance The second its off battery it immediately drops significantly by at least 75-90. As for the battery a fully charged battery seems be running just over an (hour) with one program installed and running and no rgb with low-to-mid brightness.

Alienware m15 R7 have Problems with drivers, fans run very loud and laptop still hot.
the laptop cant switch to the NVIDIA dgpu, it pops up a message from NVIDIA container saying its unable to switch display modes. This has forced me to enable the dgpu and disable Optimus. When running games, frames would cap at 60 fps and Will not go past that ( games that i know should run at 144 ). Yesterday i was playing and after 15 minutes of incredibly hot game play, the laptop turned itself off, and started displaying a 2 red 8 blue flash on the power button. I got the 3070ti 16 gb ram i7

Alienware M15 R7 Review – (12700H, 32DDR5, 3080Ti, QHD 1440p SCREEN, Cherry MX keyboard)
I have to say that I absolutely love this laptop. Its got plenty under the hood and is an absolute joy to type on. The build quality is very good and the laptop does not actually run that hot (most of the time). My only gripe is the cherry MX keyboard only comes in US/international and I’m based in the UK, therefore I’ve lost the pound sign in favour of a dollar sign, and the @ and ” symbols get switched round if I select UK English as default. Spell checks ahoy then :). As we use the @ symbol more often I have gone US for default. Gaming wise its fantastic, the quality of the display is awesome and even though I have 4K displays, the 240MHz makes a massive difference and I prefer to look at the native display (A lot). Due to the specs I have picked, this is not exactly a budget friendly M15 (approx. 2995 pounds)- however the X15 costs another 400 pounds for the same specs and the i9’s simply don’t bring much more to the table performance wise (I would type the pounds symbol, but as I explained earlier…) l I actually do prefer the M15 – its feels more solid (my brother has the X15 – he earns more money than me ;) and there is hardly anything between them. Well done Alienware/Dell – its an absolute stunner.

Alienware m15 R7 good machine but Alienware features are a bit buggy
The features involving keyboard lighting and overclocking the CPU and such are somewhat buggy and very little or poor context help to make discussions. I had expected the game manager to suggest game settings, keyboard color settings to automatically load when assigned to a game but sometimes it does, often it does not. Not what I expected for a “gaming” computer. The system is fast and runs everything so far but not “tweaking” helpful

Alienware m15 R7 audio issues and some performance jumping:
The audio of the laptop specifically the microphones seem to randomly working. Whether it being my cloud atlas headphones wireless controller or simply the amd real teck speakers built into the pc. AS for performance wise constantly on battery there rapid and cluster jumps of FPS through the gameplay, as well even so often that a times when connected to outlet it will do the same. etc.

Alienware m15 r7 GPU and Fan issues:
What happened to Alienware M15 R7?
I had some issues with the this machine. Most of my issues are with the fans. They’re very high pitched compared to their older M15 models. I also had some GPU issues where the GPU would just cap itself to only 45 watts while playing games. It happens randomly. The build quality feels pretty decent with some creaks in certain places. I’m most likely going to return it, but I’m trying to give this laptop a shot since I do get pretty good thermals for a 15 inch laptop. Also, I like this keyboard. I’ll wait around a week or so to see if my GPU cap can be fixed. I’ll try my best to deal with the high pitched fans.

Alienware m15 R7 unhappy customer review:
Great Machine, but my microphone didn’t work.
I received an Alienware laptop from my Work Office. After two days of trying, my microphone never worked correctly. I tried my Razer headset, some USB headset, and the laptop microphone. It never worked correctly, I get muted intermittently, and the volume gets lower without reason. I tried all possible solutions, noise-canceling, privacy, etc. The problem never improved. After that, I returned the laptop, and I received a new one. And guess what, the same problem. I got tired, and now I use my phone to join all the meetings I have during the day. It’s a shame because it’s indeed a great machine.

Alienware m15 R7 Customer Review:
Computer shutdowns on it own all the time
Computer has shutdown on its own since day one 2 minutes after completing windows setup. Has also not started backup a few times and waited 1hour or so and tried it after being completely frustrated because it wouldn’t start. The computer has also started sometimes and not had the display working. I have been on the phone with tech support way to many times to count at this point. Feels like a bought a laptop that has been loaded with every problem they could give me. I couldn’t possible rate it higher than 1 star because I really have not even been able to experience a new computer. Feels like a old laptop that I have been struggling with for years instead of a new one.

Dell Alienware m15 R7 Pros and Cons:
Maybe the best laptop I have owned
At the ripe old age of 55 I have owned rather a lot of laptops over the years. My first had a 286 processor and mono screen. I’ve used (and still use) Macs. in various shapes and sizes. I’m a developer and key for me is the display and the keyboard. With the advent of Windows 11 and the increasing maturity of the Windows WSL2 subsystem Unix development is now becoming fun. So I didn’t buy this laptop for gaming (although I do enjoy gaming) I bought it primarily for the Cherry keyboard. The keyboard is excellent. It is an absolute joy to type on. It makes me go slightly light headed when I think about it and the rest of the machine appears well built and of high quality. The one small issue is after five days the Y key on the excellent keyboard stopped working. Having googled extensively, this seems a rather rare occurrence and I’m not going to let it get me down. The repair main is arriving tomorrow to get it sorted. The issue with having a keyboard this good is you don’t half miss it when you don’t have it anymore!

Alienware M15 R7: power and awesomeness combined….
Purchased the M15 R7 i7, RTX3070, 64GB for writing up essays, general research, modeling with large data sets and for experimentation with machine learning using CUDA. Still early days, what you will not read in the specs is the great feeling typing (better than the Logitech MX keys) and how much more robust and good looking laptop it actually is compared the pictures/reviews. It looks serious enough to bring in a meeting. Windows 11 does use lots of memory, I do not regret going all in for maximum memory (which I did for other reasons).

Alienware m15 R7 Gaming Laptop is Almost Perfect.
This is my first Alienware PC coming from others such as a Strix Scar and ROG Zephyrus and I must say that this machine is a beast! It handles every game I throw at it including all of the latest triple A titles at ultra settings with FPS over 60 (usually in the 100’s) and this is with the 12th gen i7 and 3070ti. It handles thermals quite well under load usually hanging around 70-80 degrees with a few spikes into 90. The only issue I have, and it’s more of a nit pick, is the fan noise. I’m not just talking about loud fans because let’s be honest it’s a gaming PC the fans will get loud. It’s more of the whine that’s follows when they kick in. I’m not sure if this is just my device specifically but when they start to ramp up they make a whining sound almost akin to a high pitch whistle and it gets pretty annoying when playing without headphones. Another issue is that the battery life is not that great I get about 4-5 hours at best just doing basic things like surfing the web and streaming videos which isn’t quite bad for a gaming PC but some others nowadays are getting upwards of 8-10 hours. Other than those two things everything else is fantastic. The display is amazing I have the QHD 240hz. The port selection is plentiful and the location is good as well with the majority of the I/O located in the rear. the keyboard is fantastic, one of the best I’ve used on a laptop I have the M series with per key RGB. The build quality is great this thing feels like a tank. The webcam is ok but having windows hello makes it even better. All in all I am extremely happy with this PC and look forward to see what else Alienware brings in the future.

Alienware R7 Great – But Hot!
I love this thing – and GPU temps are great. BUT, the CPU runs extremely hot and I often encounter thermal throttling. 4 of my cores consistently hit 100 c temps while under medium or high load. Please push an update to help with temperatures! Thanks.

Alienware m15 R7 battery issues:
The laptop is running hot and extremely short battery life.
While the laptop is unplugged and idle without running any activity. With battery savers, optimus turns on, no overclock, screen frequency changed to 60Hz. The laptop is running hot and the battery will drain to 0% in less than an hour. The only pros is the looks of this laptop, but this is subjective.

The Alienware M15 R7 is the best Alienware out there!
This is the perfect laptop for both gamers and professionals who want the max performance in a small laptop that packs a bunch of power. Unlike all other Intel based laptops I’ve tested recently, this is the only laptop that does not overheat and thermal throttle thanks to its AMD Ryzen CPU. It has an awesome mechanical keyboard which great key travel and tactile feedback decent speakers for a small laptop. Another highlight of this laptop is its QHD screen which has 400 nits of brightness with high color accuracy and punchy colors. In addition, the configuration I got was with a 4TB PCIe 4 SSD (Toshiba Kioxia KXG70PN84T094TB) 64 GB of 4800 DDR5 RAM making this laptop future proof.

M15 R7 Crashes on light gaming
I have had the R7 for under a week now and even light gaming the computer will freeze randomly and reboot. I monitored the temperatures of the computer and as soon as the CPU uses 100% it instantly hits 100 Degrees CPU Temp and thermal throttles. the computer is good but I’m unsure why the temps are hitting 100 degrees the moment any load is on the CPU
